Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 14, 2026

This policy explains what The One Pick (theonepick.com) collects when you visit, why, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to info@theonepick.com and we’ll answer.

Who runs this site

The One Pick is an independent publication operated by TK Lee.

What we collect

Information you give us. If you email us, we receive your address and whatever you write. We use it to reply and to correct articles. We don’t add you to any mailing list.

Information collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our server records standard technical data when a page loads: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, the page you requested, the page you came from, and the date and time.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which articles people read and how they found them. It sets cookies and collects usage data, including a truncated form of your IP address. We use it in aggregate — to see that an article got 4,000 readers, not to identify who they were. Google’s practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy. You can block it entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Advertising. We serve display advertising through Google AdSense.

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites.
  • Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.

Opting out doesn’t remove ads. It makes them less relevant.

Affiliate links. Some links to retailers earn us a commission if you buy. Those retailers may set their own cookies to attribute the sale. This costs you nothing and never changes what we recommend — see our About page for how that’s handled. Affiliate links are marked where they appear.

What we do not collect. We don’t run comments, we don’t operate a newsletter, we don’t ask you to create an account, and we never ask for payment details. If any of that changes, this policy changes first.

Cookies

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. This site’s cookies come from analytics and advertising as described above; we don’t set our own tracking cookies.

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies in its settings. Blocking them won’t break this site — nothing here requires a login.

If you’re in the EU, UK, or Switzerland

We rely on your consent for analytics and personalized advertising cookies, collected through the consent banner shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time through the banner’s settings link. Where we process technical data to keep the site working and secure, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating it.

You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, to receive a copy in a portable form, and to complain to your national data protection authority. To exercise any of these, email info@theonepick.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.

Our service providers, including Google, may process data outside your country under the transfer safeguards described in their own policies.

If you’re in California

You have the right to know what personal information is collected and how it’s used, to request deletion, to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, the advertising cookies described above may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. You can opt out using the Google Ads Settings and aboutads.info links above, or by enabling Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor. You can also email info@theonepick.com.

How long we keep things

Analytics data is retained on Google’s default schedule for GA4. Server logs are kept for a short operational period and then discarded. Emails you send us are kept as long as needed to handle the matter, and deleted on request.

Children

This site is written for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA and UK). We don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, email us and we’ll delete it.

Links to other sites

When you follow a link to a manufacturer, retailer, or another publication, you’re on their site under their policy, not ours. We’re not responsible for what they do with your data.

Security

We serve this site over HTTPS and limit access to the small amount of data we hold. No website can promise perfect security, and we won’t pretend otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we start collecting something new — a newsletter, comments, anything — we’ll update this page and change the date at the top before it goes live, not after.
